Today we have a better understanding of memory loss. Families often hire caretakers to help care for those afflicted with this illness. But when Janet’s mother was stricken with Alzheimers disease, her father was the sole caretaker for his wife.
And then the big day arrived. His company was awarding him special recognition, but to receive it, he had to travel from his home on LI to NYC . What to do with his wife was a dliemna he had to face. He dressed her in a lovely pink outfit and took her along on the LI railroad. Then she disappeared.
This poignnt story gave Janet’s Dad many anxious moments, but fortuntely ends well for both husband amd wife.
