INSPIRING STORY OF THE WEEK: WOYANE ( A Voice for the Voiceless)

It doesn’t take much for Jonny to chase out a new adventure; but in this inspiring story, he got a bit more than he bargained for.
Although Ethiopia wasn’t the safest place to visit at the time, an offer for free flight in exchange for some camera work enticed him to accept the offer. He was eager to research a country that he admittedly knew nothing about.
Settling in a small village about two hours north of Ethiopia’s bustling capital, Jonny soon completed the video project he had promised his friend.

At a loss for what to do next, he decided to travel across the country to capture its many landscapes and traditions for a broader travel film. As he planned his route, he noticed that some of the most stunning destinations were in Tigray, the northernmost area of Ethiopia. Yet every travel source marked it as a “Do not enter” zone. Their repeated warnings finally sunk in. He would not enter Tigray. But how could he complete a project that had now become a passion?
After learning that a large number of former Tigranians had fled to Nairobi, you can guess where Jonny found himself next. The stories he learned from these people were both about horrific suffering, but also about the power of human resilience.
